Fr. John Thorpe's Ordination

December 21, 2005

Our curate, John Andrew Thorpe, was ordained to the priesthood in Christ's one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church at St. Peter's on Wednesday, December 21st, 2005, the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle.  Our nave and altar were beautifully decorated with all the Christmas greens, and the St. Peter's Choir sang with the voices of angels.  The Right Reverend David J. Bena, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Albany, presided at the ceremony, and the Rev. Michael Lolwerikoi, Anglican priest from the Church of Kenya , delivered a rousing sermon.  Presenters included our rector, Fr. Hartt, Mr. Thomas Maggs (Senior Warden), Mr. Richard Robison (Junior Warden), Mrs. Ann Collins, Mr. Fred Buse, and Dr. and Mrs. R. Samuel Thorpe (father and mother of the ordinand).  A fine reception was hosted in the Pumpelly and choir rooms following the ceremony.  Despite this ontological change, however, Fr. John is still our Curate and is delighted to continue serving St. Peter's parish.
