St. Peter’s Church, along with Partners in Outreach, operates an overflow homeless shelter during the winter months to augment the ministry of the Capital City Rescue Mission. The Mission selects up to 20 men from their population and brings them, along with a Mission Resident Assistant, to St. Peter’s at 7pm in the evening and they stay until 7am. Volunteers sign up to stay during the late night hours and act as an extra pair of hands assisting the Mission Resident Assistant. Orientation sessions provide the training for individuals interested in volunteering. To register, please contact St. Peter’s Church office at (518) 434-3502 or email us at receptionist@stpeterschurchalbany.org.
We thank the individuals who volunteered last winter from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Cathedral of All Saints, Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church and Defreestville Reformed Church and welcome new ecumenical partners this year.
